The Telangana counselling process is conducted in multiple phases to fill available MBBS and BDS seats.
Candidates register and participate in web option entry for available colleges and courses. Seats are allotted according to merit, reservation, preferences and availability.
Candidates who receive a seat must follow the reporting and admission instructions within the specified deadline.
Vacant seats from Round 1, along with seats becoming available due to upgrades or non-joining candidates, are considered in the next phase.
Candidates are required to follow the fresh choice-filling instructions issued for the round.
The mop-up phase is conducted to fill seats that remain vacant after the earlier rounds. Candidates should carefully check the eligibility and participation rules notified by KNRUHS for this phase.
The stray vacancy phase is conducted to fill the remaining seats after the regular counselling rounds. The rules for participation, choice filling, reporting and seat exit can be stricter at this stage.
Telangana follows state-specific reservation rules for Competent Authority Quota seats.
Category | Reservation |
|---|---|
Scheduled Caste | 15% |
Scheduled Tribe | 10% |
Backward Classes | 29% |
EWS | 10% |
Category | Reservation |
|---|---|
Women candidates | 33.3%* |
Persons with Disabilities | 5% |
Children of Armed Personnel | 1% |
Police Martyrs' Children | 0.25% |
*33 1/3 % of seats in each category are reserved for women. If this percentage is already met through merit, no separate reservation will be applied.
After publication of the eligible merit list and release of the web counselling schedule, candidates can participate in choice filling.
The basic process is:
Log in to the official Telangana counselling portal.
Open the web options/choice-filling section.
Select the preferred MBBS and/or BDS colleges.
Arrange the choices in the order of preference.
Review the complete preference list.
Lock or submit the choices within the notified deadline.
Download or retain the submitted choices for reference.
Candidates should place colleges according to their actual preference, rather than simply following previous-year closing ranks. A choice list should include realistic options as well as preferred colleges, provided the candidate would genuinely accept the seat.
Seat allotment is generated based on the candidate's state merit position, reservation category, choices entered and available seats.
KNRUHS conducts seat allotment after the choice-filling window closes.
The allotment is based on:
NEET UG 2026 rank
Telangana state merit position
Candidate category
Local status
Reservation rules
College and course preferences
Availability of seats
The candidate can check the allotment result through the official counselling portal.
If a seat is allotted, the candidate must:
Download the allotment letter.
Check the allotted college and course.
Pay the required university/college fees within the deadline.
Report to the allotted institution.
Submit original documents for verification.
Complete the admission formalities.
Candidates seeking upgradation must follow the rules notified for that particular counselling round. The consequences of non-joining or resignation can vary between rounds, so candidates should read the relevant allotment notification carefully.
For the 2026 Competent Authority Quota counselling, the registration and processing fee is:
Category | Application Fee |
|---|---|
OC/ BC | ₹4,000 |
SC/ ST | ₹3,200 |
The fee is non-refundable and applicable bank/payment charges may be extra. The fee is paid online during the registration process.
