Bihar NEET UG Choice Filling Process

Choice filling is an important stage of Bihar NEET UG counselling because seat allotment is carried out on a merit-cum-choice basis. Candidates should therefore arrange their preferred colleges and courses carefully before locking their choices.

The general process is:

1. Log in to the UGMAC counselling portal using the registered credentials.

2. Open the choice-filling section.

3. Select the preferred course and college combinations.

4. Arrange the choices in the desired order of preference.

5. Review the complete list before submission.

6. Lock the choices using the prescribed authentication process.

7. Download or print the final choice slip for future reference.

In the latest available BCECEB process, candidates could modify their choices before the deadline and were required to lock them through OTP authentication. If choices were not manually locked by the deadline, they were automatically locked after the choice-filling window closed.

Candidates should avoid filling choices randomly. A practical preference list can include colleges they strongly prefer, realistic options based on their NEET rank, and safer choices with comparatively lower closing ranks.  

Bihar NEET UG Seat Allotment Process

BCECEB conducts seat allotment based on the candidate's NEET rank, choices filled, reservation category and availability of seats. The latest UGMAC prospectus describes the process as merit-cum-choice based.

Bihar NEET UG Counselling Rounds

Bihar NEET UG counselling can include multiple rounds of seat allotment followed by vacancy-based rounds, depending on the schedule and seats remaining after each stage.

The counselling structure may include:

Round 1

The first round is conducted after registration, publication of the merit list and choice filling. Candidates are allotted seats according to merit, preferences, reservation and seat availability.

Round 2

Candidates can participate in the next round according to the rules notified by BCECEB. Vacant seats from the previous round may be included, along with seats that become available because of non-joining or upgrades. 

Round 3

BCECEB may conduct a further regular counselling round for remaining seats. The eligibility and participation rules can vary depending on the interaction between state counselling and MCC counselling.

Stray Vacancy Round

After the regular counselling rounds, vacant seats may be offered through a stray vacancy round. BCECEB publishes the available seat matrix before the choice-filling process. In 2025, the Board conducted online stray vacancy counselling for vacant MBBS and BDS seats after the earlier rounds.
