What Is the NEET PG Counselling Reset Registration?

The NEET PG counselling Reset Registration is a limited period for All India Counselling during which candidates may correct specified mistakes in their counselling registration details. The same process is called NEET PG Correction Window for all state counselling.

There is no single, permanently fixed correction rule applicable to every NEET PG counselling portal. MCC counselling and State NEET PG counselling are administered through different processes, so the availability and scope of correction can vary by authority.

For example, MCC's NEET PG Counselling 2025 Information Bulletin stated that candidates must ensure that the information entered during registration is correct and factual. It further stated that MCC would not entertain requests to change, edit, modify or alter information submitted during registration.

When Does the Reset Registration Open?

The NEET PG correction dates depend on the counselling authority and the specific admission year.

For MCC counselling, the 2025 PG bulletin did not provide a general post-submission correction facility. Instead, MCC instructed candidates to verify their information carefully before submitting the registration form and stated that changes would not be entertained after submission.

NBEMS has already conducted the NEET PG 2026 examination, but the counselling process is separate and is administered by MCC and State Counselling Authorities. NBEMS itself has published notices concerning the NEET PG 2026 examination application edit process, including a selective edit window, but that is not the same as an MCC or State NEET PG counselling correction window.

Candidates should therefore wait for the applicable MCC or state counselling authority notice for the 2026 counselling correction dates rather than using the NEET PG exam application correction dates as counselling dates.

What Details Can Be Corrected?

The details that can be corrected for All India Counselling:

• Wrong Enrollment number entered 

• Wrong Passing year mentioned

• Full name not entered in University / College, State / City name missing (after selecting others)

• Marital status

• Internship institute

• Internship completion date 

• Address

• Bank account number 

• Category (Only other categories to GEN)

• Applied Quota

What Details Cannot Be Changed?

Certain details may be locked because they originate from the NEET PG examination record or because the counselling authority does not permit post-submission modifications.

Commonly restricted information can include:

Name and date of birth: State portals may directly use details from the NEET PG application and may not allow them to be altered during counselling. Uttar Pradesh's 2025 brochure explicitly stated that requests to change pre-populated candidate details such as name, parents' names and date of birth would not be entertained.

NEET PG examination details: Counselling authorities generally rely on the NEET PG result and candidate data supplied through the examination system.

MCC registration information: MCC's 2025 PG bulletin stated that MCC would not edit or modify information entered during counselling registration.

Locked choices: Correction of registration information should not be confused with choice editing. MCC separately states that once choices are locked, requests for modification or alteration are not entertained.

The exact non-editable fields should always be checked in the current year's counselling notice.

Step-by-Step Correction Process

The NEET PG correction process varies by portal, but candidates can generally follow this sequence.

Step 1: Visit the official counselling website

Use only the official website of the relevant counselling authority, such as MCC or the concerned State Counselling Authority.

MCC's bulletin specifies that NEET PG counselling registration is submitted online through the MCC website.

Step 2: Log in to the candidate account

Enter the registered credentials used during counselling registration.

Do not create a second registration simply because an error has been made. MCC's 2025 bulletin states that a candidate can submit the NEET PG counselling registration form only once and warns that multiple registrations can lead to debarment and cancellation of candidature.

Step 3: Look for the correction or defect option

Depending on the portal, the facility may be labelled:

Edit Application, Correction, Modify Registration, Defective Application, Memo Details, Document Re-upload, or a similar term.

Not every portal will display an independent "Reset Registration."

Step 4: Check the fields and documents marked for correction

Read the authority's notice carefully. Some correction facilities allow changes only in particular fields, while others may be limited to uploading missing or corrected documents.

For Kerala PG Medical 2025, candidates with document deficiencies were instructed to log in, review the defects under Memo Details, and upload the required documents within the specified deadline.

Category correction

A category entered incorrectly may affect the candidate's consideration under reserved seats. Whether it can be changed after submission depends entirely on the applicable counselling authority.

A correction facility, where available, should be used only with valid supporting documentation.

Domicile or nativity correction

Domicile, nativity and state eligibility rules are largely state-specific. Some authorities may allow correction or document rectification, while others may treat the submitted information as final.

Candidates should check whether the issue concerns:

1. an incorrectly entered field;

2. a missing certificate; or

3. an invalid or defective certificate.

These are not necessarily treated in the same way.

Personal details correction

Personal details such as name and date of birth are often linked to the original NEET PG examination record.

For example, Uttar Pradesh's official PG counselling brochure stated that details including the candidate's name and date of birth were pre-populated from the NEET application and that requests for changing those details would not be entertained.

This is why candidates should not assume that a state counselling portal can overwrite information supplied from the NEET PG database.

What Happens After the Correction Window Closes?

Once the correction or defect-rectification deadline ends, the authority may treat the submitted information as final.

A candidate may then have limited or no opportunity to correct the mistake.

For example, Kerala's PG Medical 2025 defective-list notice explicitly stated that candidates who did not rectify specified deficiencies by the deadline would not receive another correction opportunity. It also warned that failure to rectify nativity-document deficiencies could result in loss of the applicable reservation benefit.

Therefore, after the window closes, candidates should not assume that contacting the authority will automatically reopen the form.
