West Bengal NEET PG Counselling Process

West Bengal NEET PG counselling is held online and is managed by the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC). It covers State Quota seats, Private/Management seats, NRI quota and In-service quota seats. Meanwhile, 50% of seats in government colleges are reserved under the All India Quota (AIQ), which is conducted centrally by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

1. Check eligibility & documents

  • Candidates must confirm that they have met the NEET PG qualifying percentile as well as state specific requirements.

  • For those applying under the State Quota, a domicile or residency certificate of West Bengal is required, along with proof of completion of the one-year compulsory internship.

2. Registration on WBMCC portal

  • Fill in personal, academic, NEET PG and internship details.

  • Scanned copies of relevant certificates also need to be uploaded at this stage.

3. Payment of Counselling Fee

  • After successful registration, candidates are required to pay the counselling fee through the online payment gateway.

4. Document Verification

  • Candidates must report at the designated verification centre with originals along with photocopies.

  • The WBMCC officials check and validate the documents and only those who pass verification are permitted to proceed further.

5. Choice Filling & Locking

  • Eligible candidates can then log in to their accounts on the WBMCC portal and choose their preferred courses and colleges from the published seat matrix.

  • Candidates should carefully arrange their options in the order of preference and must lock their choices before the deadline.

  • Once locked, the choices cannot be modified.

6. Seat Allotment Result

  • WBMCC publishes round-wise allotment results online.

  • Candidates who receive a seat must download the allotment letter from the portal and report to the allotted college within the given time frame to complete the admission formalities.

7. Upgradation / Next Rounds

  • Candidates who are not satisfied with their allotment or who do not receive any seat in a particular round, may participate in the next round.

  • WBMCC conducts Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and a Mop-up/Stray Vacancy round, until all seats are filled.

Eligibility Criteria For West Bengal NEET PG Counselling

To participate in West Bengal NEET PG counselling, candidates must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Have appeared for NEET PG 2025 conducted by NBEMS and secured the minimum qualifying percentile.

  • Have an MBBS degree or a Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate from a medical college recognized by the National Medical Commission.

  • Must have completed a one-year compulsory rotatory internship on or before the date specified in the NEET PG information bulletin for that session.

  • Must possess permanent or provisional registration with the NMC or a State Medical Council.

  • To be eligible for seats reserved under the West Bengal State Quota, a candidate must be a domicile or permanent resident of West Bengal in accordance with the rules laid down by WBMCC.

  • Candidates who are not domiciled in West Bengal are still eligible to participate in counselling for management quota seats, NRI quota seats and All India Quota seats in government medical colleges. However, they are not eligible to claim seats under the West Bengal State Quota.

West Bengal NEET PG Counselling 2025 Cutoff

The cutoff marks and percentiles are set and published only by NBEMS. These are the national qualifying cutoffs. WBMCC does not declare its own separate qualifying cutoff. Instead, it uses the same NBEMS qualifying percentiles/marks as the eligibility benchmark for West Bengal State Quota.

West Bengal NEET PG Counselling Rounds

The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) organises counselling in a sequence of rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 (if needed), a Mop-up round and finally a Stray-Vacancy round to fill any leftover seats. The exact number of rounds and their dates are published in the WBMCC information bulletin and round-wise notices on the official portal.

Round 1

During Round 1, candidates fill and lock their choices from the seat matrix published for that round; seats are then allotted on the basis of NEET PG rank, category reservation and seat availability. Candidates who are allotted seats in Round 1 must download their allotment letter and report to the allotted institute within the prescribed window to complete document verification and pay any institute fees required for admission.

Round 2

Held for candidates who were not allotted any seat in Round 1 and for candidates who have accepted a seat in Round 1 but wish to participate for upgradation. Candidates may retain their previous preferences or modify them and must lock choices before the deadline. Upgradation is possible only if a higher-preference seat becomes available during allotment in Round 2 according to merit and reservation rules.

Round 3/ Mop-up Round

If seats remain vacant after the main rounds, WBMCC may conduct a mop-up round to fill remaining seats. The mop-up round is intended to cover leftover government and private/management quota seats. Candidates who did not join in earlier rounds, as well as those who became eligible later and satisfy the eligibility criteria, may be permitted to take part in the mop-up round.

Stray Vacancy Round

The final special round is to fill any unclaimed seats after the mop-up round. In West Bengal this round is administered under WBMCC instructions (sometimes labelled “Special Stray Vacancy” in notices) and is usually available only to candidates who have already completed the WBMCC registration process for that counselling cycle. Fresh registrations are generally not permitted in stray rounds unless the official notice explicitly allows them.
