NEET PG result 2026 has been released on September 24, 2026 as per the schedule released by National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). How to Check NEET PG Result 2026

Candidates can use the official NBEMS NEET PG portal

Step 1: Visit the official NBEMS website

Go to the official NBEMS website at natboard.edu.in.

Step 2: Open the NEET PG section

Locate the NEET PG section or the dedicated NEET PG 2026 examination page. NBEMS maintains a dedicated NEET PG page containing examination notices and result-related links.

Step 3: Look for the NEET PG 2026 result link

Once the result is declared, select the link relating to the NEET PG 2026 Result or the result/scorecard link provided by NBEMS.

Step 4: Enter your login details

Use the credentials requested by the NBEMS portal, such as the application-related login details.

Previous Years’ NEET PG Cut-Off Marks and Percentile

The table below shows the NEET PG cut-off marks and qualifying percentiles from previous years, including 2025, 2023 and 2022.

NEET PG Result 2026: Percentage and Percentile Difference

Percentage and percentile are not the same thing.

Percentage

Percentage reflects the marks obtained compared with the maximum possible marks.

For example, if a candidate scores 540 out of 720:

Percentage = (540 ÷ 720) × 100 = 75%

Percentile

Percentile reflects a candidate's position relative to other candidates in the examination.

Therefore, a candidate's percentile does not simply mean the percentage of questions they answered correctly.

For example:

• 75% marks describes the candidate's score against the maximum marks.

• A 90th percentile indicates the candidate performed better than a large proportion of candidates.

This is why candidates should not assume that a 50th percentile means 50% marks.

NEET PG 2026 Marking Scheme

The NEET PG 2026 examination pattern consists of 180 questions carrying a maximum of 720 marks. The marking scheme is:

NEET PG Score = (Correct answers × 4) - (Incorrect answers × 1)

For example, if a candidate answers 150 questions correctly and 20 incorrectly:

Score = (150 × 4) - (20 × 1)Score = 600 - 20 = 580

The remaining 10 unanswered questions receive no marks.

NEET PG Merit Lists and Their Types

The NEET PG result and the merit lists are closely connected, but they serve different purposes.

1. Overall NEET PG Rank

This represents the candidate's overall position among candidates who appeared in the examination.

The rank is important when assessing a candidate's relative position for postgraduate admission.

2. All India 50% Quota Merit List

NBEMS prepares the merit information used for the All India 50% Quota counselling process.

The All India 50% Quota rank and applicable category rank are particularly relevant for candidates participating in counselling under the AIQ framework.

3. All India 50% Quota Category Rank

This rank reflects a candidate's position within the applicable category for the All India 50% Quota.

It should not be confused with the overall NEET PG rank.

4. State Merit List

State counselling authorities prepare their own merit lists for state-level admissions based on NEET PG results and the eligibility, domicile and reservation rules applicable in that state.

Candidates should therefore check the concerned state counselling authority separately after the NEET PG result is released.

NEET PG Result 2026: Tie-Breaking Rules

If candidates obtain the same score, ranking may require the prescribed tie-breaking procedure.

The NEET PG 2026 tie-breaking order includes:

1. Candidate with fewer incorrect responses overall.

2. Candidate with fewer incorrect responses in Section A.

3. Candidate with fewer incorrect responses in Sections B, C, D and E, in that order.

4. Higher aggregate marks in MBBS professional examinations.

5. Older candidate.

These criteria are applied in sequence until the tie is resolved.

What's After NEET PG Result 2026?

Getting the NEET PG 2026 result is not the final step. Candidates who qualify must proceed to counselling according to the type of seat and institution they are targeting.

Step 1: Download and preserve the scorecard

Keep the NEET PG result and scorecard safely. Candidates may need the documents at different stages of counselling, reporting and admission.

Step 2: Check counselling notifications

After the result, monitor the official counselling authorities for registration and schedule announcements.

For seats covered under central counselling, candidates should follow MCC notifications. State quota and other state-level seats are handled according to the respective state counselling authority's process.

Step 3: Register for the applicable counselling

Qualification in NEET PG does not by itself allot a seat. Candidates must register for the relevant counselling process and follow the applicable choice-filling and seat-allotment rules.

Step 4: Check the seat matrix

Before filling choices, review the available colleges, courses, categories, seat types and other applicable conditions.

Step 5: Fill choices carefully

Candidates should arrange college and specialty choices according to their actual preferences, expected competition and eligibility.

Step 6: Follow allotment and reporting instructions

After seat allotment, candidates must complete the required payment, document verification, reporting and joining formalities within the specified deadline.

MCC separately publishes counselling schedules, seat matrices and allotment results for the counselling processes under its jurisdiction.
