The NEET PG 2026 qualified candidates are those who meet the minimum qualifying criteria prescribed by NBEMS and fulfil the applicable eligibility conditions.
At present, NBEMS has not published a separate headline figure for the total NEET PG 2026 qualified candidates. The candidate-level result list can be used to determine qualifying status, but a consolidated total should be added only after an official aggregate is available.
The qualification percentage is generally calculated as:
Qualification Percentage = Qualified Candidates ÷ Appeared Candidates × 100
Since the aggregate number of NEET PG 2026 qualified candidates has not been separately stated by NBEMS, the official 2026 qualification percentage is also not yet available as a consolidated figure.
This distinction is important because the qualifying cutoff tells you the minimum percentile or score required to qualify, while the qualification percentage tells you what share of test-takers actually crossed that threshold.
The NEET PG 2026 cutoff refers to the minimum qualifying percentile and corresponding score required for eligibility. The cutoff announced with the result is:
Category | Qualifying Criteria | NEET PG 2026 Cutoff |
|---|---|---|
General/EWS | 50th Percentile | 262 |
General PwBD | 45th Percentile | 244 |
SC/ST/OBC, including PwBD of SC/ST/OBC | 40th Percentile | 226 |
The qualifying percentile framework has remained 50th percentile for General/EWS, 45th for General PwBD and 40th for SC/ST/OBC categories. However, the corresponding marks have varied across years.
Category | Qualifying Criteria | NEET PG 2026 Cutoff (Out of 720) | NEET PG 2025 Cutoff (Out of 800) | NEET PG 2023 Cutoff (Out of 800) |

The NEET PG 2026 result statistics provide context for the size of the candidate pool, but they should not be treated as a direct prediction of seat allotment.
First, the candidate pool is larger than in the previous two years. There were 2.65 lakh final test-takers in 2026, compared with 2.30 lakh in 2025 and 2.16 lakh in 2024.
Second, qualifying NEET PG does not mean that a candidate will automatically receive a particular MD, MS, DNB or other PG seat. Counselling outcomes depend on rank, category, quota, choices filled and available seats.
Third, the 2026 raw-score scale is different. The examination was conducted for 720 marks rather than 800 marks, so comparing 2026 marks directly with historical marks can be misleading. The qualifying percentile provides a more consistent reference point across years.
Finally, candidates should distinguish between qualifying cutoff and counselling closing rank. The qualifying cutoff only determines eligibility to participate. College- and specialty-specific closing ranks emerge during counselling and vary by round, category, quota and seat availability.
The major NEET PG 2026 result highlights are:
2,73,096 candidates registered for NEET PG 2026.
2,65,960 candidates finally appeared, including 2,416 candidates who appeared in the Jaipur re-examination.
The General/EWS qualifying cutoff is 262 out of 720 at the 50th percentile.
The General PwBD cutoff is 244 out of 720 at the 45th percentile.
The SC/ST/OBC cutoff is 226 out of 720 at the 40th percentile.
The NEET PG 2026 qualified candidates total has not been separately stated by NBEMS in the result notice currently available.
The 2026 exam used a 720-mark scale, so direct raw-score comparisons with 2025 and earlier years should be avoided.
The number of candidates appearing for NEET PG has risen steadily from about 2.00 lakh in 2023 to 2.66 lakh in 2026.
